MONSTERMONTH No.21 - Colony

The Great Hive consist of many creatures, most evolved into higher, fully sapient and cultured species that quickly formed productive, oligarchic society based on workers rights and capabilities. But some members of the hive adapted to the new reality in a very different way, finding their sapience in form of crude emergence. The Lorghan Worms were always known for their colonies, the many hundreds of them moving from place to place in big mass of wriggling bodies and countless legs, consuming all rotted flesh, spoiled food and other debris. In that form they were considered a blessing, cleaners of the world at large. But with time, their colonies grew more and more... Alive, if that's the proper term. Bulging into new forms, imitating other species, they somehow manages to grow shared intelligence. When pushed together they can speak. Love. Hate. And mostly show their disdain and envy of others, who do not have to thrive on trash and from trash.
