MONSTERMONTH No.20 - Camouflage

The forests of Posterra are as sprawling as they are dangerous. With plethora of new and crazy predators, introduced by countless milennia of conflicts of every imaginable kind, with dangerous, emergent fauna and with tribes of brutish savages following the simple laws of the survival of the fittest, they make for a bloodies biome of constant death from which new life can rise again. But not every living beings that trod the moist hummus of the deep, dark forest floor evolved to be deadly. Some develop advanced mimicry, camouflage and other subetfuges to hide form the prying eyes of hunters. One of them are the Rootlings, the dimunitive species of sapient sprites - simple, without great culture nor tight societal bonds, these creatures cultivate a symbiotic relations with various kinds of big shrooms to use them as a living camouflage and pass as a mushroom in eyes of predators - which often are pure carnivorous and won't look twice at unappetizing fungi.
