In the wizarding wars of the past, when magic was still extremely potent and volatile, many self proclaimed Masters of the Universe, Lords of Fate, Gods of Arcana and such Presidents of Prestidigitation waged enthusiastic wars... Mostly against each other, but the destructive outcome harmed the very landscape, reshaping realms and scouring all common sense from reality. In their wars they employed more than mighty spells - mostly armies of golems, minions and arcane tech machines, marching under a lunatic banner to clash with strange throngs in brutish combat in the name of a master that was usually too deluded to even fully grasp the unfolding conflict. When one mage used golems made of living elements, other would use hypnotised thralls of local population and yet others would make their own, alchemy-born beings of cultivated flesh, put into a mimicry of life with mystical cortexes - false souls of hollow taste and quality, but enough to give the soldiers animus to fight and die.
