050 – The Deceiver

Being a ruined, off limit planet that nonetheless is know to every galactic empire, fiefdom, megacorporation and religious purifiers has some drawbacks. Sure, the xeno wars for the planet ended when the Dreadwake manifested and proven impossible to contain, defeat or live with, making Posterra a curio, an anomaly that was deemed neutral ground for research only. However while that lofty goal sounds great, plenty of organizations and states still consider it somewhat a wild frontier to use in some capacity, illegally and covertly. The most shameful usage of the forbidden globe is as a drop off point for the galaxy biggest criminal and nastiest monsters. Your country tackling an immortal god-machine that you can just about stun for a bit? Drop it on Posterra. Your realm is taken over by aggressive form of biotech nano-organism? Grab’em in a bowl, drop on Posterra. A terrifying sentient robot imbued by some cosmic horror appears on your ships, turning them off and hunting the crew while playing different personas, pretending to be their friends, putting on voices and different, malleable faces, luring them into the darkness with hypnotic lumen, picking them one by one only to leave a drifting, empty vessel with nary a sign of struggle or battle? You guessed it – find it, subdue it with enormous expenditure of resources, find it is indestructible to any known means and you know what? Just gosh darn dump it on this trash planet – I mean, it already got hit by every possible disaster, one more won’t hurt, right?
