Water is a precious commodity. Always was, always will be, but now with many communities scattered, with old systems of irrigation and plumping gone, with ancient sewers crumbled, the people of many tribes had to make finding a reliable source of the live giving liquid their highest priority. Some though live in places so desolate, so withering and dry that a tank of water is worth more than any treasure. Droughts, well know for their sandy desolation, has only a few clean oases, jealously guarded by the warring clans. The Sea of Acids have plenty of pools and lakes, but very few of them has anything that could be drank – at least, not without dissolving. Therefore, it is not hard to imagine that a merchant and couriers of water are a well-known professions far and wide, hauling the big cisterns, tanks and barrels across various distances to bring it to those who need it most… And can pay for it, of course. The career might seem risky – after all, everyone wants water! – but there is a sort of universal understanding, even amongst the most savage and brutal tribes, to not attack the carriers of water. Sure, you might score a big cistern that will nourish you and your people as well as your crops for a cycle, but what then? What if the various guilds cross your tribe off their routes and you’ll never see the sloshing caravans again? It is wiser to leave them alone… As long as they don’t extort too much for every drop.
