042 – Driveslug

Robots are a part of Posterra for countless millennia now in all shapes and forms. It is not therefore a surprise that nature – especially nature twisted and boosted by xeno experiments, magical annihilation events and the mad mutagenic horror of the Dreadwake – found a way to exploit them as simple prey. From metal-eating bacterium to high end apex predators that feed on robotic wetware, coolant and oil. Some are however more insidious in their exploitation of the machine life. Driveslug is a common name for a post-magical monster made of rubbery flesh that, on its own, is a pretty pathetic opponent. However they can discharge powerful electromagnetic pulse to paralyze their prey – robots – only to lazily crawl up to them and seep their many tendrils into their form, finding any little dent or hole to connect to their cabling to reprogram and repurpose the robot, forcibly taking over it, making the metal frame their host – now with armoured shell they often find themselves enjoying greater mobility and defences. A lucky Driveslug might even find a combat drone or battle automata to take over, adding new arsenal to its hunts for energy, be it batteries or bodies.
