During the late 60’s and early 70’s there was an ongoing fad of buying kids the “easiest of pets” - the ubiquitous Sea Monkeys. The tiny crustaceans of the Artemis genus was specifically created for such whim of humanity. Most of this tiny critters died quickly in their artificial conditions. Plenty of such dead bodied where dumped into the sewers where many scavengers took care of them. Sone though were still alive and survived the perilous journey through the canals. A mere few made it to the oceans. Altered, strange survivors kept on growing and growing, changing and shifting into new, elusive and strangely intelligent deep sea life forms which avoid humans at any cost.
